Put an AI host on your phone
An AI host answers your restaurant phone in a warm voice, knows your menu and takes the booking. Every call lands in Call History with a summary and the recording.
You will need: Phone Calls switched on for your restaurant (ask your Muncho account manager), and a manager login.
1. Create your phone agent
Section titled “1. Create your phone agent”Under AI Agents in the sidebar, open Phone Calls > Agents and press New Agent. Type a name where it says Enter Agent Name, and a short line where it says Briefly describe your agent. Then fill these four boxes in plain English:
| Box | What to write |
|---|---|
| Agent Identity | Who it is. For example: “You are the phone host for Dorsia.” |
| Agent Personality | How it sounds: warm, brief, patient. |
| Language and accent | The language it speaks, for example English. |
| Agent Task | The job on each call, for example: answer questions about the menu and opening hours, and book tables. |
2. Pick a voice and write the greeting
Section titled “2. Pick a voice and write the greeting”Under Voice Selection, Nina is picked for you. Under Call Messages, write the Greeting Message (the first thing it says) and the Voicemail Message (what it leaves if a voicemail picks up). Press Save.
3. Test it with a web call
Section titled “3. Test it with a web call”After you save, open the Call section on the agent and press Web Call. Fill in Participant Name and Phone Number, press Start Call and allow your browser to use the microphone. Talk to it the way a guest would. Change anything that sounds off, save, and call again.
4. Let it read your menu
Section titled “4. Let it read your menu”On the agent, find the Menu section and press Manage menus. Press Add Menu, choose Link my live menu, pick your Outlet and press Link Menu. Then attach that menu under Menu on the agent and save. When your menu changes, it is sent to the agent again within 15 minutes.
To give it your opening hours and house rules, add them under Knowledge Bases on the agent (Manage sources).
5. Put it on your number
Section titled “5. Put it on your number”Open Phone Calls > Inbound. For each number, pick the agent in the Incoming calls column. A number with no agent shows Not set.
No number yet? Press Get a number. Renting a number needs a paid plan and a business verification, which Muncho support starts for you.
Common failures
Section titled “Common failures”The Phone Calls pages say "Phone calls are not enabled for this restaurant"
Muncho switches Phone Calls on for each restaurant. Message your Muncho account manager and we turn it on.
