Table ordering and paying from the phone
Let guests order from their phone at the table and pay the bill without waiting for staff. You set it up once on one settings page; the rest happens on the guest’s phone.
You will need: Dine in open on your account (your POS connected and Razorpay approved). See the Quickstart.
1. Switch on table ordering
Section titled “1. Switch on table ordering”Go to Dine in > Settings. If you have more than one dining area, pick it in the section box at the top. Under Guests and ordering, turn on Table ordering.
- On: guests order from their phone when they scan the QR code on a table.
- Off: guests can still read the menu on their phone, and your staff take the order. Guests can still pay from their phone if phone payments are enabled for that section.
2. Choose the order flow
Section titled “2. Choose the order flow”If Order flow is available for your section, choose what happens the moment a guest sends an order:
- Straight to the kitchen: the order is accepted as soon as the guest sends it. Faster, and nobody has to accept it.
- Your staff accept it first: the order goes to the waiter app and waits there until a member of staff accepts it, so they can check the table and the order before it is cooked.
3. Choose the guest login
Section titled “3. Choose the guest login”Under Guest login, choose what a guest gives you before they can order:
| Choice | What the guest does |
|---|---|
| Customer details | Gives a name and a phone number, and starts ordering. The quickest. |
| Phone number with OTP | Enters a phone number and confirms it with a code sent by SMS. |
| Table PIN | Enters the table PIN supplied by your staff. |
| Table PIN and OTP | Both. The strictest, and the slowest for the guest. |
Even with Customer details, anyone joining a table that is already seated is asked for the table PIN. That stops someone at the next table ordering onto your guest’s bill.
4. Choose who pays the online fee
Section titled “4. Choose who pays the online fee”Under Charges, the Commission card asks who pays the online payment fee on dine-in orders. Muncho takes no commission on dine in; online payments have the gateway fee shown in the guest checkout:
- Customer: the fee is added on top of the bill, so you receive the full amount.
- You: the fee is taken from your payout, and the guest pays only the bill.
Press Save at the top of the page. See Who pays the fees for more.
5. What the guest does
Section titled “5. What the guest does”The guest scans the QR code on the table. On the Order tab they pick dishes and send the order; with table ordering on they see Order Placed. When they are ready to leave, they open the Pay tab, choose a tip under Add a tip for the team if they like, and press Pay Bill. When the guest pays the fee, the page says a small online payment gateway fee is added.
They see Payment successful with the bill and a Download Receipt button. The bill shows under Payment History in your dashboard.
Common failures
Section titled “Common failures”Guest login and Order flow are greyed out
They only apply when guests can order. The page says “Turn table ordering on to use this.” Switch on Table ordering first.
Guest login says "This section has no tables yet"
A table PIN needs a real table to print on, and tables come from your POS. Add the tables in your POS first. If they still do not show, message your Muncho account manager.
I cannot pick Customer under Commission
When payments go to your own Razorpay account, guests cannot be charged the fee, so the card says “The fee stays with your restaurant” and only You is offered.
Orders are not reaching the kitchen
If the order flow is Your staff accept it first, the kitchen does not see an order until someone accepts it in the waiter app. On a POS, accepting is what sends the ticket. Accept it in the waiter app, or switch to Straight to the kitchen. If orders still go missing, message your Muncho account manager with the table, the time and the order ID.
